this article… so well done. your heart is so transparent in it. i love it.
hoorah david crowder and band!
ps. excellent taste in music! i love that cd!
^ way to actually read the article, guys.
what a crazy way to go. i somehow had never heard this story before. baptism’s probably toward the top on the list of “causes worth dying for” though…
oh it was a link lol nerrrrr sorry about that wow it looks too long ill read it someother time
That’s pretty ironic that death followed a baptism… I think it’s sort of symbolic though. ‘He gives and takes away, but my heart will chose to say, Lord blessed be your name’
Thank you, Dave. So much.
Jack’s Manequin is pretty awesome.. cool that ur listening to them.
I’ll read the article too..
Great interview. Thanks for sharing.
i can’t help but wonder how this affected the faith of the person who was being baptized…i don’t want to say it’s a great story, but it is definitely something that makes for heavy thought.
my prayers continue. can’t wait to meet Kyle in heaven….
Thanks, must have been difficult. 5 years ago a dear friend finally had lived her dream, went to China and adopted a little girl. She returned home and was dead in one short month of having this child. No warning, no illness just gone. I held on to each and every Christian worship song because there were no words. Then Mercy Me released ” I can only Imagine” and then came peace.
well i love the cd.. and yay for Jack’s mannequin.. that cd is amazing also.. just saw them live it was killer!
i remember reading about this on the news and i had no idea it was Kyle from the band… man. thank you so much for sharing. i’m thankful that God allowed him to bless our lives with music these past few years.
19th!
plus jacks mannequin is cool, now i gotta read that article
u rock dave
An article of interest, definitely. Thanks for opening up.
awesome.. comment back bro!
Thanks for speaking on it. I’ve been wondering.
Really sorry about that; such a paradox.
haha at first i thought your newest album was a little funny, a little different .. then i listened to it again, and found it wasn’t so funny afterall
thank you
20 bazillionth!
Great article. Love ya man.

It seems as if most of the comments on this have been light and happy, when the situation is not. I know it takes some time to fully process things and finally be able to talk about it, especially hundreds of people! I am so thankful though that as christians we have the hope of heaven – of getting there one day and spending forever in heaven! And looking back on our lives and saying, “I worried about that? That made me so upset?” It is something I constantly have to remind myself of though. Well thanks for sharing your feelings about all that….. Jennifer
awesome!
beautiful
this helps illumine some light on your album. some of it has indeed perlplexed me and the article helps clear that up some. the hardest part of things is articulation. and i’m a horn player, so i have two definitions, but ultimately, both definitions are the same.
very interesting, thanks for sharing!
Mr. Crowder,
all i can say is wow. the article, your album, God, collisions…. i really don’t know what to say.
Thanks for what you do!
-Monte
jack’s mannequin. =)
umm, i love your music!!
I just heard “Wholly Yours” on the radio. Congratulations! May God continue to bless your ministry.
i saw the article the other day and thought that it was great the way you fleshed out your feelings in the interview… hope all is well in the world for you guys and you are enjoying a little bit of much needed time at home! the bob-o
lol definite interest, really cool…i especially liked the last comment you made about the apology thing; that is the sort of thing i will never realize by myself.
Hey. Great interview. I didn’t realize the album cover had that much artistic depth. Good job. One of your songs was a sort of inspiration for my latest post. Thank you for writing great music. God bless you.
thanks for sharing
both u and jack’s mannequin are awesome!
jacks mannequin came to my school, depauw university yeah they’re awesome, but he talked about smoking pot the whole time he did have leukemia though, so it was prescribed
its good to get a look into someone go through that – thanks I was able to visit your church this past week – you got a great thing goin on there – keep blazing the trail for others to follow
we love you, DC*B! -marcia =)
please come to my xanga for a second. and sign up for this thing… please? and maybe you can post it on your xanga too. bye… i miss you.
I love that CD, too. Nice article.
Beautiful.

Hey i dont like your xanga
Thank you for sharing that with the rest of the community. So many times, we only hear our artists through their music and not through their words. Sure the lyrics are there, but it’s still great to hear what they have to say about the things they see, hear and experience.
Death is a tough thing to talk about. I appreciate the honesty you displayed in talking about your dear friend and pastor’s death. These things are rarely ever talked about, probably cos’ no one knows how to bring it up or approach others who’ve lost someone.
I hope this article opens up a lot of talks all over the place. His death alone has opened my eyes to his writing and they have blessed me tremendously. I just wish I had the chance to meet him and say thanks in person for sharing what he has written.
In heaven I will get that chance. =)
Dear David,
I’m very sorry to hear about your, your band, UBC, and our City’s loss of Rev. Lake. I only met him during a few of your album release parties. From meeting him, I know that he was a really good man. Above all though, I was impressed by how open he was, his life was an open book there for anyone to read. I know what it’s like to loose a very close friend, and I’m sorry you and your band had to go through this tragedy. Not only do I know what it’s like to loose a friend, but I also know what it’s like when you aren’t there to help them. It’s unnerving, perturbing, and leaves you with this horrible sense of beeing completely exposed. I don’t know of many words of comfort I could give you right now, but to look at life through the new eyes it gave you. I know that sounds painful, and let me tell you, it is for the first few days. A good song that helps me let out the emotion is “Trouble” by Coldplay.
Keep the faith, keep your chin up, and don’t let the world pressure you into looking at your feet.
Your fan, David
Do you care whether people write David Crowder* Band as opposed to just David Crowder Band? or is it simply semantics? Is the asterix important? whats the deal with the asterix anyways?
i’m sort of writing a paper, and the question has been haunting me…
thanks!
Gosh, very sorry for your lost. I can only imagine what it would be like if anything happened to our pastor.
I haven’t got a chance to read it all right now, but I’m sure it’s going to be great from the little I was able to read.
Great article! Thank you for speaking truth and allowing all of us to gather at the throne even in the midst of tragedy.
A friend of mine was killed in a car accident the middle of December. I’d known her for 10 years. She was a mentor/friend who I greatly admired while I was young and became friends with more as the years passed. Some of what you said in the interview resonates with me, the “what ifs” and such. I’ve never dealt with death of a friend before. It took me a couple months to get out of the shock of everything and am now grieving her passing. Thanks for being open and sharing some about it. Much of what you said resonates.
thanks

wow, I can’t imagine how hard that was. I’m also a sound and light guy, so I know what you mean about the dangers of electricity and just not really thinking about how dangerous it really is. He’s with God now, which is definitely better than being on earth, and I’m sure he’s loving it up there.
thanks for sharing…. it was nice to see the part that kyle played in this album…. its always so neat to see God at work…
oh wow, i heard about that electrocution, i think it made national news?? i live in new york.
I remember last year I emailed about this. Thanks for reply. The cool thing about tests in your life, is that they easily turn into a TESTimony. Excuse the pun. “I’m trying to make you sing” was amazing. I never knew you that ment it as an apology. Apology accepted ! Whatever, the interludes and styles made “A Collision or 3 +4 = 7″ a piece of musical art. Art I say ! ART ! I framed it on my wall.
God Bless,
Paul Walker
That was an interesting article. Good to see your views on it all now. Thanks for sharing.
…and Jack’s Mannequin is awesome.
I just heard your CD the other day for the first time! I thought it was great! So now I’m a fan.
May God continue to bless you and your band’s music!
hey crowder, i was going to tell you (and this is kinda late) but your concert was amazing at midland! thanks for coming out and i really hope that you’ll be coming back soon! In His Marvelous Light,Anna k8
that is something I want!
so incredible, wow, my prayers and support continue to go your way, an it is true: none of us are getting out of here alive. . .
OOH Dam, you’re stick dude is smokin!
i like it. whenever i read something of yours (lyrics, articles, bios, whatever) i always feel like i’m your new best friend; like i know everything about you. freaky? maybe… but that transparency is what makes you and your music so reachable. the ability to grieve with hope, as steven curtis chapman talks about in “with hope”, is such an amazing concept… it really seems as though you’ve grasped it.
“i didn’t notice you were standing there/i didn’t know that that was you holding me/i didn’t notice you were crying too/i didn’t know that that was you washing my feet”
this is all i have to say right now :]
OKAY SO GO HERE! IM BEGGING YOU!! ADD US AS YOUR FRIEND! AND LOVE OUR MUSIC! http://www.myspace.com/theaaronhaleband im the annoying guy from Ardmore, Oklahoma who keeps trying to get you to listen to him…
I know you probably don’t read all these comments but the article really touched my heart and caused me to think of death… how He died for my sin and that there is new birth and that is what was celebrated that day… but really what an example of life everlasting. He is in heaven with the splendor of Jesus and GOd. The real God thing he actually sees. I often think of his family and the DCB band as I listen to collision.. The first thing that I said to our college group was wow… how cool is it that God allowed them to write an album that would comfort them and they didn’t even know it… He does care and does love us so. David… thanks for sharing the article and thanks for making music that is Glorious. I can’t wait till heaven to have time and sit and talk with you sometime in Eternity… your music has impacted my life and so many others… by the way… thanks for signing my sign… You probably don’t remmeber but I had a street sign that said W. Crowder Rd… and you said that your middle name started with a W… so cool… it is hanging in my kitchen so please know our family prays for you and the band regularily and every Friday night our college group meets in our home for a bible study and they also pray for you guys… Much joy to you. thanks again justine
I just want to say that I love that album, minus a little content issues, it’s a great cd!
<3 Kait
dude, just wanted to let you know that your music really ministers to me. I love your song, “Rescue is Coming”. And I think it’s cool how you can tie in the joy of Christ into all of your songs! It seems like you are a man in love with God. that’s cool. Collision rocks! that cd is awesome! and, for the record, your drummer kicks butt too. Yesh
hey hey hey that artical is very good/ sad well comnet back luv kaylee

hi, i was among the small crowd who caught you after your show at agape fest on friday night. you are such a great guy and so funny too! i was cracking up when you dropped that phat beat. lol. God bless!
oh man….. i’m so sorry about your friend, kyle…
Hey David Crowder! ur awesome! Stop by my site sometime when you get a chance!
-Rebecca
david— i am working on getting the address for the giant squirrel thing i saw in cincy. i’ll try to get that to you soon. in the meantime, check out this website of squirrel tag. the guys at my work are playing it during our breaks.
You are amazing! I didn’t even know you had a xanga till I bought “A Collisoin.” It is a very good CD. It has blessed me greatly. Keep doing what your doing! God Bless!!!! -DJ
Agape was awesome! it was cool worshipping with you guys! thanks for coming to Agape…you should come next year!
ah…so now i finally know what happened.
cool. (?)
One of many, I’m sure, and you’ll probably never read this but still I feel I should at least offer this: Dear Mr. Crowder, I pray that even now, God’s peace will flow into your life wherever you are. I am sad to hear that your good friend has passed away, and I will be praying for you (seriously, I mean that, it’s not just some meaningless feel-better line). It is a comfort to know that ultimately, God is in control and we just have to surrender to Him. I do hope it makes you feel slightly better to know that your album (A collision) has helped me tremendously as I struggle to lead a brand-new worship team at my church. Remember always, His will and His glory. -Kyle Taylor Victory Harvest Church, Baton Rouge, LA
awesome! <3 <3 <3
Wow thank you for your willingness to be open and transparent. I was listening to Collision this morning thinking about similiar things, and I came to your site tonight to tag ya’ll for a game, and then decided to read the article. My great uncle died last week. While I wasn’t as close with him as you were Kyle Lake, I am still finding myself contemplating the short time we are given on Earth and how valuable it really is. I’m also rediscovering what Apostle Paul wrote a long time ago that nothing, even being successful, admired, rich, or anything else is all meaningless and a loss when compared to knowing our Lord Christ Jesus. I don’t even know if you will read this, but thank you reading that article meant alot to me.
that’s a good interview. Also just finished the article in Relevant… cracked up laughing, cause it reminded me of our parting thoughts…
“running down the hall with nothing but a smile on… innocence…”
peace… love… bdg…
i just started listening to the David Crowder CD that you have under your ‘interests’ in the left box there and i’m really impressed with it! someone put it up for sale at the second hand bookstore!! it’s a gem! thanks for posting!!

is it true that you collaborated with Minister RMB? just curious…. it sounds like you but i can’t decide…
hey listen to our myspace.com/theaaronhaleband
The part about baptism being a symbol made me think. It is indeed a symbol of eternal life, but it is also a symbol of death to sin. Paul says a few times that in baptism, we proclaim our death to sin just as surely as we proclaim our new life in Christ. In that context, it seems to me that during a baptism is perhaps even a fitting time to die to this world and prepare for Eternal Life in Heaven.
Hey David!
My names Adam Frost. i go to your brothers youth group at RCC. I thought i would come and say hey.
i dont know if codes work on this…ohh well if it doesn’t….you still need to check out our myspace…
That is some inspiration right there. Can’t wait to worship at Alive Fest.
do you really ever read all of these comments? If you do, kuddos! You’re already a spectacular man, but you’ve got to be on the super-man-tendencies side if you can read all of those, do quiet times, play with your band, work a “normal” job (like in an office or something), be a husband, (and a father i think), and make time to jam with God!!! Congrats man! Hope God is blessing your life incredibly! I know that he’s definately blessed me and countless others by the things that He’s done in and through your life! Have a great day! Be blessed, feel his son shining down on you!
david crowder. sweet hair. oh and, hi.
your songs encourage me like you wouldn’t believe…
my father recentl passed away and your songs have been such a comfort. thank you
I emailed you…..on your church thing a ma bob email address…you should read it….and you should also check out my band… http://www.myspace.com/theaaronhaleband i just keep hoping one of these days you’ll go oh my gosh the aaron hale band! love them!
I love you guys!!!
i know this is a long shot but here it goes. i’m leading a short term mission team of 20 to Russia this summer and i would like to send u a prayer support letter. i’m sure its kinda dangerous for you to send me ur home address… and i would really like ur prayer support. so if you wouldn’t mind sending me an address to where i can send u a letter? thanks dave.

will we be able to preorder Collision B?!?!? contain myself i cannot.
The rumers are true!!!! YES, YES< AND MORE YES
a “B”(:eautiful) collision is on it’s way. I’m excited! I mean, it’s only natural that A Collision is followed up by B Collision! I found out about it last night and searched and searched but could not find track b’s track listing. Ya’ll must have that under a tight wrap! But that’s ok, adds to the mystery of the wonderful title “B: Collision, The Eschatology of Bluegrass” ( Boom Chuck, Boom Chuck!) i did get a lil insite that it’s a collection of acoustic moments with the band. So that’s really cool. Hey, when you guys do your next live album can you include “Amazing Grace” You guys played up in the cities ( Minnesota ) and it sounded amazing! Well anywho God’s Blessings
brentdavid
very awesome. i relate very much to a lot of the things you said.
thanks.

I know this is a bit late but “A beautiful Collision” has been such a huge blessing to me. Thank you for your ministry and for the way you live your life for Jesus.
I just wanted to say that the article is awesome. I only now read it, but to hear you put your faith into words through a tragedy like that… it was inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
this goes under “alex’s folder of interesting things”
That was a great article…
Saw you guys at Cornerstone. ’twas amazing.
I love you, DCB. Oh, yes I do! I love you, DCB; and I’ll be true. When you’re not on-the-radio, I’m blue. Oh, DCB, I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!
CANT STOP WONT STOP…LISTENING TO COLLISION…
see you at National Youth Workers Convention. in Cincinnati Nov 16-20th.
Wow! The David Crowder Band! My brother and I are your biggest fans. I love the new CD, esp. “Here is our King” & “Foreverandever Etc.”
Keep up the great work,
Taylor
it will be great to be at your concert in michigan in June… hope to be there… God bless…
Dear Mr. Crowder,
I understand that you must seriously lacking in the element of time at this moment. But I strongly advocate you to read an article that has been inspired by God in coordination with your song “Rescue is Coming.” I sincerely believe it will bless you and inspire you to continue in the direction you’re heading worship-wise. Thank you for your time.
Originally, the new album just confused me. Why? I’m a confuseable person. I don’t even know if confuseable is a word, and I’m confused by it too. After reading the article, I see that this album is a lot deeper than others. Your other albums will still touch me, but when listening to this one, I can feel it more. Maybe everything you guys were feeling was incorporated, giving your listeners the feeling also. It’s deeper than the lyrics. Doesn’t it irk you that it sometimes takes something terrible to open your eyes? That sometimes we need something traumatic to change us? We humans are so… I can’t think of the word right now.
hey, you have no clue who i am but i was wondering if you were going to be having any concerts in Indiana anytime soo

Whaaa, more updates please?
yo David, I am the one that served you at Baskin Robbins. Great to see you, congrats on the success.
Well, hi, hope I don’t sound too much like a fan. I’m not sure if you’ll ever read this, but I’ll leave it any way. I greatly enjoy your music, it always inspires me to grow close to GOD and really love HIM, not just do things for HIM, but love HIM. Well, you might find this interesting also, I know Johnathan burton and Sherri Burton. He’s like my best friend. Well, hope maybe one day GOD will cross our paths. May HE bless you abundantly and speak through you to reach the ages. Much love and blessings.
David? Ya dead man?
Okay that was a bad attempt at a Cool Runnings impression. Just curious what’s been up. Usually you have fun tour stories.
You have weird hair
it has been over a month since your last update… i think its about time for another
david crowder i hope your summer is moving right along. i was in waco for a tennis tourney and i saw a few members of the band. it was fun. i can not wait for b collision, but i guess i have to. peace.
I’M NUMBER 140!!! well, just thought i’d give a shout out, if that’s what they call them, from grand rapids, michigan. you coming up to tom maas’ cottage any time soon? anyway, God bless. -josh

i like it. whenever i read something of yours (lyrics, articles, bios, whatever) i always feel like i’m your new best friend; like i know everything about you. freaky? maybe… but that transparency is what makes you and your music so reachable. the ability to grieve with hope, as steven curtis chapman talks about in “with hope”, is such an amazing concept… it really seems as though you’ve grasped it.
AND LOVE OUR MUSIC!

im the annoying guy from Ardmore, Oklahoma who keeps trying to get you to listen to him…
I know you probably don’t read all these comments but the article really touched my heart and caused me to think of death… how He died for my sin and that there is new birth and that is what was celebrated that day… but really what an example of life everlasting.
I can’t wait till heaven to have time and sit and talk with you sometime in Eternity… your music has impacted my life and so many others…
by the way… thanks for signing my sign… You probably don’t remmeber but I had a street sign that said W. Crowder Rd… and you said that your middle name started with a W… so cool… it is hanging in my kitchen so please know our family prays for you and the band regularily and every Friday night our college group meets in our home for a bible study and they also pray for you guys…
Much joy to you. thanks again
justine
I just want to say that I love that album, minus a little content issues, it’s a great cd!
<3 Kait
dude, just wanted to let you know that your music really ministers to me. I love your song, “Rescue is Coming”. And I think it’s cool how you can tie in the joy of Christ into all of your songs! It seems like you are a man in love with God. that’s cool. Collision rocks! that cd is awesome! and, for the record, your drummer kicks butt too.

ah…so now i finally know what happened.
cool. (?)
One of many, I’m sure, and you’ll probably never read this but still I feel I should at least offer this:
Dear Mr. Remember always, His will and His glory.

awesome!

So ummmm hey!
powerful article.

do you really ever read all of these comments? If you do, kuddos! You’re already a spectacular man, but you’ve got to be on the super-man-tendencies side if you can read all of those, do quiet times, play with your band, work a “normal” job (like in an office or something), be a husband, (and a father i think), and make time to jam with God!!! Congrats man! Hope God is blessing your life incredibly! I know that he’s definately blessed me and countless others by the things that He’s done in and through your life! Have a great day! Be blessed, feel his son shining down on you!

will we be able to preorder Collision B?!?!? contain myself i cannot.
Well anywho God’s Blessings
brentdavid
very awesome. i relate very much to a lot of the things you said.
thanks.

it will be great to be at your concert in michigan in June… hope to be there… God bless…
Dear Mr. Crowder,
I understand that you must seriously lacking in the element of time at this moment. But I strongly advocate you to read an article that has been inspired by God in coordination with your song “Rescue is Coming.” I sincerely believe it will bless you and inspire you to continue in the direction you’re heading worship-wise. Thank you for your time.

hello david crowder.. do you david crowder?
-reece
You have weird hair
it has been over a month since your last update… i think its about time for another
david crowder i hope your summer is moving right along. i was in waco for a tennis tourney and i saw a few members of the band. it was fun. i can not wait for b collision, but i guess i have to. peace.
