  • oops.

this happens every time i help with the mailing of the orders from our store website – i get a tad emotional. i’m such a tender soul. anyway, so i posted this: “buy the book/cd combo from our website for a fantastic price and we’ll sign the books,” thinking that, you know, that’s what authors do – sign books, and that this was a good idea, and it will add to the beauty of the world, and such, and so on. well, i neglected to inform jamie (our friend ben’s wife) who does all of our website mail order stuff. this would be what is referred to as, “a massive oversight.” so, i show up to sign the books and jamie and our good friend holly have gotten a jump on things and had already packaged a heck of a lot of orders. which is great. except that all of the books that are now in sealed packages must be removed and signed and i have to tell jamie this. so i say, “hey! how are you two? wow. looks like a lot of stuff huh? man. wow. you guys are really working. man. hey. ha, the funniest thing. you know, uh, i, uh, see, well the thing is i mentioned on my xanga, and we sent out an email, and well, we told everyone that if they bought a book from us, we’d sign it, since you know, that’s what authors do – they sign books, so you see, …” jamie threw something at me. i couldn’t tell what it was because she threw it so hard but, so anyway, i got busy signing books and helped jamie and holly reseal all the previously packed envelopes. here, look at us, we’re really working it.

    new packaging

just after this photo was taken i had the little emotional episode i mentioned in the primary portion of this post. i just can’t help but get a tad overwhelmed that people would actually spend their hard earned money on something i made, i mean obviously i care deeply about it but why you would is beyond me. thank you. thank you so much. i can’t tell you what it means.

on a side note, for all of those who have already read the book (you know who you are) is this not the most insane thing ever! [LINK TO THE MOST INSANE THING EVER!] what have we done?!!! WHAT HAVE WE DONE??!!!

  • Do you know why you’re so popular? Besides your GREAT music, you’ve got a great heart! I respect when big stars remain humble and have integrity. (Who goes to the trouble of signing every book?) And even posting xangas makes your fans feel like they know you…you seem like a fantabulous man of God! God bless!

  • I’m not gonna lie- I haven’t yet read the book… and yet that’s still one of the more insane things I’ve seen in my lifetime…XD

  • i feel better knowing that such a funny and emotional occurance is to answer the question of “why hasn’t the book that i’m itching to read come yet?” well, i finally broke down and visited a local christian retailer that carries books, and glanced breifly at the book. not much, most just the back cover…i don’t want to spoil the fun of preordering. anyways, thank you for sharing and for signing my book. you are surely a nice person. have a great day.

  • “Besides your GREAT music, you’ve got a great heart!” I agree compleaty! I just realized the weird irony I’m even wearing a shirt with your band’s name… and a rhino and a mouse on it… while I read your xanga. Thats weird.

  • birds falling from the sky…sounds familiar!

  • dude, your awesome. I only dream of having a goetee that cool!

  • Well, I’m sure those who bought the book will treasure it forever. Don’t be so surprised that people buy your work; God’s gifted you. You’re good at it. If you weren’t people wouldn’t buy it.

Wow, yeah I would be hard-pressed to think of anything more insane that poisonous pigeons…

I have a rather amazing story myself on my Xanga. It’s a little different than the pigeons, though, haha…

SUFJAN STEVENS BLOWS MY SOCKS FIRST!!!

You’re second in terms of folk rock. :P

  • HAHAHA great story!

  • Wow…cruelty to animals.  See, around here, i know a guy that goes to feed lots and offers his services.  Pigeons like to eat the grain that is put out for the cows.  So Andy offers his services.  When the farmer says “yep” Andy shows up Saturday morning with his lawn chair and a couple of 5 gallon buckets of shotgun shells, and his shotgun, and his pigeon decoys.  After the day is done, and 1000 rounds have been expended, Andy takes some of those big black plastic bags and fills them with around 750 dead pigeons.  He loads them into the pickup and takes them out to some BLM area and dumps the dead birds out for the coyotes or scavengers to eat.  I prolly shouldn’t tell you how much Andy loves to hunt coyotes.  Well, he does.  Ironic.

  • i hate when that happens.

  • you just HAD to get all emotional didn’t you?  wait, i’m sure it’s not your fault… no need for the jars just yet…

    peace… love… bdg…

  • thank you for signing the books!!!!!!!! and thank you to your team too =)

  • Pigeons… it’s raining pigeons.

  • Reading about the pigeons put the funniest image in my mind… like they hit an invisible wall in the sky and fell straight down, leaving a straight line of blood and guts and things a mile long. At my house in San Antonio, all these birds dive down at the cars on this long stretch of road between the highway and my house. They must think it’s pretty exciting playing chicken with cars. One day about five came diving in on me. I was amused because they’re real real stupid. And then it happened! One of the birds lost. I won. It dove right in to the brand emblem on the front of my car! I’ve should have been sad and mourn the loss. Instead I just laughed at the top of my lungs… I was all alone and I still laughed out loud!

  • Hello David,
I like your site. You worked hard to make it more interesting than most. I see that we never know what you will post here next! Who knew that the Star Trek theme would make a good medley with the Simpson’s theme?
I like to write articles about God and religion on my site. I want to help people to really get to know God, especially in these troubled times. Jesus gave us a message of hope that is in the Bible: 14 When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come. (Matthew 24:14) (CEV) I hope you get a chance to look at them.

  • an even crazier site is ”cowabductions.com” seriously, its the best thing ever.

  • into the blue or in a safe place the 2004 release was amazing! how’s the latest?

  • you are an amazing writer, artist, and musician, and you inspire me… well, i guess God inspires me through you is what i should say.  but anyway, i got your cd @ sixflags over texas when you were here (it was hot), and would like you to sign it if possible.  i am coming to waco in november, and coming to your church on the 5th… so if you’re there, maybe i’ll try and find you and see if you can sign it.  allr ight, i’m sure you’re a busy man, and have busy man things to do. so i’ll talk to you later.

    kinz

  • haha oh wow that story IS insane!!!! pretty funny too…. :Op

  • I don’t know if anyone will answer this, ya know, being an online thing, but I was wondering if “Only You” is tabbed out in “The David Crowder*Band Collection.” I was looking online, and I can’t find out if this song is in this book. Since I live in Nowhere, Ohio there isn’t a good place to get these kind of things, so I have to order offline. Which means I can’t look through the book. Help would be greatly appreciated by anyone. :) I’m just a poor guitar player who aspires to learn her favorite songs.

  • That is amazing that you would do that for us! I can’t help but think that there’s a good possibility my book was in that huge pile…haha.

You are such a blessing to the world! May you be blessed greatly in return! Have an awesome day, Mr Crowder!

  • i guess it’s time to head to the post office and check my mail!

  • what have you done crowder.
    what have you done…

  • hahaha. look at those hard-pressed, forced smiles for the picture. they look so “happy”. God bless.

  • my friend did a current event for class on that… t’was funny

  • I preordered the book from relevant books and I still don’t have it yet. I’m getting somewhat anxious. If it doesn’t come soon I might buy a copy from you instead. I’ll probably want two copies anyways because I’ll want one for myself and one to loan out to people.

Oh yeah, on a side note they played one of your songs in a video at my church today. It was a portion of “Come Awake.” I was upset that it was only a portion. Listening to that song in it’s entirety always makes me have one of those little emotional episodes. Anyways. Just thought I’d share that with you.

Have a nice week signing books.

  • Raining Pigeons!!  Wow, I am from Shreveport and somehow I am not surprised that it would take a poisoned pigeon story to put us in the news!!  Thanks for the laugh, Dave.

  • aw, you’re the best, david crowder.  for reals…..

you’re one of the most authentic and caring beings on the planet, and you bear the name of Christ so beautifully.  it must be so challenging, especially being on the road and in the public eye, but it’s a GIANT blessing to read things like this.

    thanks…  for keeping it real.

  • that’s awsome David! you ROCK! btw, is it too late to purchase your CD/book w/ autograph? can’t seem to log on to the “shop” portion of the david crowder web site… =(

  • Hey man, I got your book today finally. Maybe I’ll buy one from your store anyway. I’m about to go read all of it in one sitting (a complete lie because I’m a super slow reader).

    -Drew

  • huh lol, you got a trash bin somewhere full of perma markers?

  • Hey! We’re going to be at the Puyallup Fair on Thursday just to see you! I’m taking some friends, some who don’t even know you yet! Aren’t they in for a surprise! So do a good job! I want to hear some mean Banjo! And while you are there you should eat a scone! They are the absolute best!

  • I got my book!  Thank you so, so, so, so very much!  This means a lot to me.  I’m halfway through the book now…. I’ll let you know what I think when I’m done.

  • I just saw you last night in Boise!!!!!! Thanks for the laughs and well everything else!

  • Hey David and MIke,

I am greatly enjoying the book.  I was thinking to myself, this will be a quick read, then I reached he columns.  I was torn, my heart said read page by page, but my OCD said read each column completely then return to the next column and read it completely, finally returning a third time to the 3rd column. Did you realize the quandry you might put your readers in by implementing this particular style for sections of your book?  Or do I need to look deeper into the three columns?

Maybe I just need to finish the stinkin’ book before commenting,

    later kidz,

    tunz

  • I’m liking the music selection.

  • I’m buying the book. Done. PS, I LOVED A Collision, so I’m looking forward to B Collision as well~ Thanks for the book/CD combo option!

  • if you are looking for a kind different music video, perhaps you would find this interesting.

  • David C. – you weren’t signing autographs the night you played in Boise “french fries in the airport vending machine” Idaho,  so my daughter didn’t get one.  That was the day my autographed copy of your book arrived in our mailbox.  Hehe.  So sweet to break the news to her.  I like the way you’ve turned the little sketch of “the Crowder” into your autograph.  Very artistic.  Oh…so everyone in my family is laying claim to the book..except for the 20 year old going to school out of state (The Master’s College), and my 5 year old…who reads, but only a few words at a time.  At dinner tonight my wife said “…that book is so…” and I looked up and my 12 year old son says “…you mean my book?” and my 17 year old daughter says “…that’s my book…”  and I was thinking it was on my nightstand waiting for me to crack it open…

  • fantastic book, i’m am seriously considering rereading it

please release your albums on vinyl, it would make my day

  • Great show in Puyallup last night. Hope you got to enjoy a hot scone with raspberry syrup. Personally, I would have enjoyed a little more DCBand and less of those other guys, but 3rd Day always does a good show so I can’t complain.

  • Wahoo! The Album Leaf is a durn good choice. = ) I’m excited for the new book! Praise Habbit was great.

  • album leaf= amazing

  • so I bought your book yesterday because I saw it on the shelf at the bookstore and wanted it…totally missed out on the autograph thing. but oh well.

I read all of it today…thank you (and Hogan) for writing that. It was quite impactful and I’ll probably read it again very soon so that I can catch everything I inevitably missed.

    just thought I’d say thanks.
hope you have a fabulous day! :)

  • i love this album..

  • I’m sad… I cannot see the most insane thing ever, I bet it was good too.

  • Rarely would a person key in a word that is not related to Viagra if he’s planning to buy buy Viagra . Would you? So, what does a Buy Viagra Online vendor do, keeping in mind this particular psychological aspect of the buyers? He would try to inculcate in the content of his site.

  • How well does Generic Viagra work? Studies show that Generic Viagra UK improves erections in more than 80% of men taking Generic Cheap Cialis 100 mg versus 24% of men taking a sugar pill.No other ED tablet is proven to work better.
