  • hello. my name is…

    shane.

    get-attachment

so yeah. that’s shane. he’s having a good day. it being the first full day and all. you can tell this just by the look he is giving my camera phone.

so here’s what’s happened so far:
    1. i ate donuts from a bag.
    2. toni and i took our car in to the shop to have the windshield washer fluid reservoir replaced and the oil changed.
    3. jeremy finished tracking drums for “can you feel it”. (at least that’s what i think it will be called. who knows. things change. but for now, that is what we call it.)
    4. we ate lunch at uncle dan’s. wow.
    5. we went to take back the truck that shane had rented to bring all his gear down.
    6. a man with very few teeth told shane that where he had been told to return the van, as printed on his budget rental agreement, was not the place to return the van.
    7. shane discovered it was hard to be upset at a man with very few teeth. just because it’s hard to form regular angry thoughts while staring into unexpected absent spaces in someone’s mouth.
    8. mark (shane’s assistant) went to his hotel room to edit drums on the first track.
    9. painters came to the house and put another clear coat of varnish on the upstairs sleeping porch. (that has nothing to do with the recording but it is no less true.)
    10. i hoped aloud that the man with limited denticles did not have internet.
    11. jeremy started tracking “o for a thousand tongues to sing”.
    12. i said a few things to the effect of: “holy crap!” and “oh my freaking yes!” attempting to indicate that the sound of the drums was large, very large in fact and what was being played pleased me greatly.
    13. mark came back from his hotel room with edited drums.
    14. i went in the house and drank a milkshake.

so that’s pretty much the day thus far. of course some of the previous may be out of order, like it is true that number 8 happened prior to number 5, 6, and 7. and also hogan was here for awhile getting files to work on violin parts. and there is also the part about mike d trying to fix my internet so the cameras are more stable and uploading properly. that part i left out. but the funniest part that i didn’t mention was when jeremy returned from lunch and locked his keys in his car while it was still running. i just felt it inappropriate to mention since it might denote more than typical absent mindedness on his part and that would just be wrong. except that he pointed out that this has happened on 3 other occasions recently, which would negate my previous modifier of his absence of mind.

we are now importing mark’s edited “can you feel it” drums.
    commence to jiggling.

  • Happy Shane! :D

  • excellent! This is going to be a fun process, and thank you for including us.

  • hi david crowder!

  • Smile Shane …… Have David make you a milkshake ……. chocolate ……. make it a double …..you’ve had a hard day !

  • oh man. that milkshake better have been strawberry.

  • woo…oh for a thousand tongues to sing…this excites me.

  • I am excited that I checked your blog about 10 minutes ago for the Nth consecutive day since the cruise to find it filled with not one but 2 new entries.  Meanwhile, I decide to post on the guestbook, check the webcams, where I find my new found friend Mike D. in a familier position to me, sitting in his chair and playing a bass that will go on a record, and then I go ahead and email him.  To my even greater joy, by the time i make it back to your blog thinking “I guess I will just check back one more time real quick”, you have since posted yet another entry.  3 in one day, one of which was happening while I was responding emotionally to the first 2, too much for me to handle.  Time and space unite us.  Furthermore, you guys are going to blow my mind yet again, and it is only a few months away. I can’t wait.  By the way, we are going to be starting a new series at The Element where I lead that is going to be very intense and deal with the idea of the brokenness we experience as a result of our sins and the sins that people have committed against us (sexual impurity, abuse, eating disorders, etc…) and our theme song for the series is going to be “Oh the glory of it all”.  Thanks bro.  You are the man (2 Sam.12:7, if you do not follow literally.)

  • sweet. pretty darn sweet.

  • Good luck!  I’m looking forward to hearing it all

  • jiggling commenced.

  • It’s good to see you let your grandmother pick out your wallpaper ;) Very vintage!

  • I like milkshakes, and I have a deep fear about locking my keys in a running car…

  • i’ve locked my keys in my car while it was running before…  but only once!

  • i’ve been jiggling all day long. although, i’ve been telling people that i was bugging out rather than jiggling. i’m not really too educated on proper protocol for expression of excitement in light of recording albums.

  • Much happiness! New album! Wahoo!

  • Sweet! Thanks again for including us. My inner geek says hello, and he says thanks also. He’s been very happy since I took him to Beepcon. God speed, and look out for those Action Bills!

  • Drums are the heart of a song, the guitar is the extremities.. or maybe the face. I haven’t decided that one. and then the bass is gut. then the keyboard is the pancreas or something. So I’m exited to hear the awesomeness of the drumming modification.

  • i think remedyiscoming.com is down……………

  • i can’t get to it……….

  • can’t WAIT for the new album!

  • i am only barely containing my enthusiasm. in fact i’m  not really “containing” it as i keep letting out little yelps and sounds of excitement!

  • oooh! drums! my favorite!
    i’m a drummer too!

  • Wow busy day. Today I told many a person how excited I was that DCB was recording a new album!

  • For a moment I was beginning to question the existence of God, but then you began recording and I stumbled upon this fact as a myspace friend. This has all lead me to the conclusion that Myspace is from God and therefore there must be a God! Thank You DCB! You are my remedy, well second only to the one true remedy, Jesus.

  • how pleased we are!

  • Jiggling has ensued! I can’t wait for this record! No title yet, huh?

  • one of my firefox tabs is dedicated to the webcam feed.

  • oh, I’m so excited. seriously.

  • I would suggest to Jeremy to go to AAA and get a plastic key made. It’s a wonderful thing a bit thicker than a credit card, but invaluable, I actually drove my truck with it one time when i forgot my keys in vegas and used it countless times when I locked my keys in the car.

On another note, I have the most wonderful fiance. She bought me a Taylor Guitar, a 710CE! I feel confident in getting up infront of people and leading worship now (now that i don’t have to play my Applause with an EQ pedal trying to get it to sound decent). I am jealous of your recording studio… I had to sell my iso booth for 50 bucks because I was moving. Hopefully I’ll be recording again soon with the new guittarra.

    Keep praisin’ Him!

    Mark

  • i am so excited that we are going to be offered these little peaks into the cd recording process. is it true you guys are gonna be redoing songs from all i can say, because if true then i am incapable of words to express my excitement.

  • Hooray for new recording!  Hooray for Shane!  Hooray for edited drum tracks!

    John

  • you’re hilarious.

  • oh my goodness….. so, I checked out the camera shots that loaded and refreshed happily on my computer…. and I’m so freakin’ excited.  excited about the next album.  excited about the prospect of DC*B on my computer screen.  excited that I just had to explain to my housemates the reason for my yipps of joyous glee.

I love you guys.  like seriously.  rock on, dcb.  rock on.

  • F.Y.I- Shane and I have the same shirt.
And I’m pumped about O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing.
It is by far one of my favorite tunes.

  • where do you go to view the web cams?

  • David Crowder.. The ground pulls at my feet… I cannot wait for the next stash.

GOD i wish only for these phasings to stop… what worse torment is there for a weakling such as I than to curse me with wonderment, to smite me with awe, to plague my curiosity with the grandeur of things unseen, vinyls of times past, ornaments of heavenly splendor, energies so enormous, the abysmal depths of the universe are but ashes left to float in the light of their ever-consuming fires…

Back on Earth… I… JUST… WANT… ANSWERS… I… WANT… TO… USE… THESE… 5… SENSES… TO… FEEL, TASTE, SEE, HEAR, SMELLLLL the AURA OF GOD…! ID SCREAM this with a fountain of phlegm boiling in my tongue-less throat, my lung-less chest resounding with the wailing of a thousand mourning widows… Im screaming, pouring, singing, demanding, crying, begging, yearning, GNAWING at the closeness of this SEAM…. this seam that BINDS Your dimension, GOD, and Mine…! I am uplifted in the waves of musical notes GREATER than just A through G… Im riding K’s and I’s and double L’s – more than just Major and Minor chords… Im riding NEUTral chords – inaudible pitches that eat away at my flesh, sleep in my daily weariness, come alive in the solitude of my nights only to beckon me, to plead with me, to beg of me that I show them to you, God…

GODDD! Hear these cymbals of human agony CRASHH as the soles of my feet MELT away on the heat of this abominable SUN that is your closeness… I whimper in Annnguish, paradoxically giving birth to an MMPH so deeeply sown in the sonic frequencies, the very shelves holding up human history rattle…………… and then… the silence… all too common… I reach out, and nothing… I wait.. I cry… I die… lifeless.. OH but I sigh, and in the wake of it, my phoenix rises… it rides the waves of glorious choirs, mounted by the hope of daily life… how earthly… how i wish there were more than life and death.. a gray area to taste; to swim… Life. how incipient… how recessed… but oh how essential… how… why… God… “?”…

  • Wow. Thanks David C. for including us in on the project. It makes me feel almost like you’re my friend! (Well, technically I have met you (twice) but both times I felt very awkward because the contacts were brief and I thought no conversational quality beyond acquaintanceship would take place, and so I just kind of stood there with a dumbfounded expression on my face.) Anyways, thanks for telling us the everyday kind of stuff that doesn’t seem to matter to anyone but the people who care about you. I probably speak for many when I say it makes us feel like friends.

We’re all family after all, right??

    From a West Coast sista,
    LC

  • surferdrewby- you click on the green cross to view the webcams.

  • thanks for keeping us posted on the progress of this album….

  • Wow. Being United Methodist, I’m excited about O For A Thousand Tongues (especially since this year is the 300th anniversary of Charles Wesley’s birth). Now, our we’re used to having that as the first hymn in our hymnbook. Are you gonna put this first, too? (keeping with tradition and all)

  • so detailed. so much information. it makes me want to go to uncle dan’s now. . .

  • very very excited about this new album – when is it expected to hit shevles in the UK?

  • we saw Shane Friday night (um, the 23rd, I think) at Texas Tea & Coffee in McGregor!  We did a last minute gig opening up for Brian Patterson there.  We were told he was the “sound guy”. All we had was acoustic guitar and a bunch of original tunes – ‘cept for our cover of Dylan’s “it ain’t me, babe” – love that song! – There was some rumor flyin’ around that he was “associated” with DCB. Should’ve know’d it was true seeing as how tall the dude was, but I didn’t believe it…..until mine eyes have now beheldin’d his very own likeness right here on your blog.  Sometimes seein’ is believin’.

  • this is the most amazing thing in the history of ever.
    i just know it.
    i CAN feel it.

  • commence to jiggling yall
