bwack is a genius. i think. w/favorite comment
i have a definitive announcement: beloved bwack (our drummer) has exceeded, nay, crushed all of his previous electronic creations.
now, if you’re unfamiliar with bwack’s (our drummer’s) electronic wizardry, here are a few examples of his early work, when his tinkering in the bending of circuits was infantile and callow in comparison to his latest chef-d’oeuvre:

well, there’s this thing–
and of course jack’s magical box, as you may have had the good fortune to see and hear on the remedy tour or one of the festivals this summer during the technically demanding song “can you feel it”–
that’s not to mention his infamous modification of the guitar hero controller for the song, “neverending…,” or any of the other various mad items that are responsible for numerous sounds on numerous recordings by our little outfit–
but now, oh my. what follows is truly spectacular.
he was commissioned by our good friends from the band family force 5 to construct the largest sampler in the history of live rock music. and, with the assistance of his carpentry proficient padre, don bwack, he has done it. there were a few necessary requirements: one, it needed to withstand much energetic punching, and kicking, and general jovial abuse from one of the rowdiest live bands on the planet. there was also the need for it to dominate space with an aesthetic presence large enough to compete with one of the more style conscious outfits on the planet; the family has panache in spades and this thing had to be classy to occupy a stage such thoughtfully coifed hair and magically coordinated garmentry.

if he had put numbers on each square and made the squares removable, it could’ve also doubled as one of those walls on a game show where you pick a number and some type of prize is behind each square. one square could be refrigerated and contain cheese. that would be great, because at the beginning of the tour, it would be a great prize, but at the end of the tour, not so much….

This just ended the debate about who the coolest musician is in a band.
i’ll give in. bwack is cool.
but i’d like to give a suggestion. if that guy from ff5 has some dance moves, bwack should make a version where the circuit bender lays on the floor, and he can dance on it.
but the one that’s up there’s good enough already for me. i think.
it makes me happy.
Okay, okay, okay… Bwack just created a new instrument. Seriously… holy monkeys… it’s like Dance Dance Revolution sideways x 10.
So what happens when other bands catch on and Bwack goes down in history as pure awesomeness?

And I have to agree… Drummers are definitely the coolest members of a band…. Especially ones that are crazy enough to create things like that…. Woah…

oooooh and i get to see ff5 tomorrow and i hope they use the latest invention of bwacks.

i have decided that i am going to complete my degree in electrical engineering for the sole purpose of someday being able to create such things.
yes, this is indeed a defining moment for me, as this wonderful invention has breathed new potential into a major…no…a life that was once governed by such things as maxwell’s equations and smith charts…but no longer! i now aspire to think outside of the quantum box that may or may not hold schrodinger’s cat, so that i too may reach this nirvana where art and technology become one!

first of all, i have been out of the country working for a while, so i haven’t seen you in concert since the collision tour…and i just want to say…a ‘speak ‘n spell’???????? seriously???? please explain!

I am married to a drummer, I didn’t realize all drummers were weird, but alas they are. What is really cool is if you play both those videos at the same time, if you hit it just so, they sound great together.

that’s so cool. if i had it in my house, i would pretend all day that i was an astronaut and it was the control pad to my magical rocket ship which would go to pluto so i could console it and make it feel like a planet again ^_^

Not to burst your bubble, because I do think that what Bwack has accomplished is amazing…but unfortunately – I have just recently laid eyes on something that might outdo what Bwack has done (both on a visual and technical level).
I work in the concert productions industry as a part time gig – helping out with any shows that come to town – and I recently had the chance to work the Nine Inch Nails show. Granted, I would never say “go out and listen to these guys”….but what Trent Reznor proceeded to unleash on the crowd was nothing short of amazing! See for yourself:
