some pals of mine asked this of me, and now i ask it of you:
1. grab your preferred digital media player.
2. push play in shuffle mode.
3. report here in the comments the first 10 tunes that pop up.
4. i’ll comment later with my list as well.
5. cheating is prohibited, as it would be in poor taste.
6. this will decide whether you are a likeable person or not.
7. at least that’s what my friend steve told me.
8. when he said this, the part about being a likeable person, i panicked.
9. but it turned out he was kidding.
10. sort of.
11. he did seem genuinely bothered by the two bee gees tunes though.
12. i mean, 2 out of 10!
13. that’s quite a lot of bee gees really.
14. but what i’m trying to say is don’t cheat.
15. you’re still a great person.
16. at least i think so.
17. well, maybe.
18. i mean, we don’t really know each other, so it’s sort of risky for me to say that, the you being a ‘great person’ thing.
19. i mean, you could be someone who pulls the wings off of fairies and such.
20. so, if you’ll just comment back listing the 10 songs, then i think we’ll know each other a little better, and can then perhaps make statements about one another definitively.
21. concrete things like, “oh, i see you like the bee gees.”
22. of course i’ll deny it and say, “no. i mean, yeah, i like that one song, but i wouldn’t say, ‘i like the bee gees.’ i wouldn’t go that far. no.”
23. then you’ll go, “i’m sorry, we can’t spend any more time together.”
ps. if you typically read at a safe distance without comment, i humbly request you make exception and allow this to be your introductory entry as i'll need representation from the silent majority.

:( I don't have a comp. But if i did.. it would be playing the passion god of this city CD. :) or cornerstone gospel music.. man. I'm into that these days.. the funky stuff.. and lots o' random key changes. :)
I did this once under the context of 'Soundtrack for Your Life.' Here's what I got.
Opening credits
"December" Bleach ("we have survived and we're still alive/we were meant to fly")
Waking up
"The Proposal" Calibretto 13
1st Day of School
"It's The End of the World As We Know It" R.E.M. ("That's great it starts with an earthquake/ birds and snakes and airplanes...." Actually it usually starts with a screaming baby, but that sounds like an earthquake.)
Falling in Love
"A Beautiful Collision" David Crowder Band (That's eerily appropriate)
Fight Song
"Pressing On" Relient K (ditto)
Breaking Up
"Goodbye" Plankeye (Now it's just getting weird..."Walk away, it's time to say goodbye")
Prom
"Highwayman" Johnny Cash ("Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade/ The bastards hung me in the spring of twenty-five/ But I am still alive."....Has nothing to do with prom, but that sounds ominous)
Life
"Masterpiece Conspiracy" P.O.D.
Driving
"The Last Round" Slick Shoes ("I'll turn the lamp on to light the way"...Helpful when driving at night)
Getting Back Together
"American Kryptonite" Five Iron Frenzy ("Everything will end alright")
Wedding
"The Man Comes Around" Johnny Cash (It's about Judgment Day/ Armageddon...hmm)
Party
"Matthias Replaces Judas" Showbread ("The bleached bone of animals bound by leather strips/ dance through the air with laughter as I wield this wicked whip"....That's MY idea of a party!)
Birth of a Child
"Fell Out" Bleach (giggle......"What's wrong with me, I've just been layin' around/ wishin' it'd be just like it was before I fell out)
Death Scene
"In God's Country" Caedmon's Call (" We'll punch a hole right through the night/ Everyday the dreamers die")
Funeral Song
"Become What You Believe" Last Tuesday ("But when we stand before the Son of Man/ Will we hang our heads, will he understand? / When its all been said and done / Was our race well run?")
Ending Credits
"Mach 3" Ghoti Hook (Bless me, Father, I am weak, I am not strong/ And it doesn't matter if I get my way")
1.) Secret of Life/Faith Hill 2.) Searchin'/Beatles 3.) Michelle/Beatles (actually the London Symphony Orchestra) 4.) It's Laura Fault/Veggie Tales 5.) Head Against the Sky/Eisley 6.) Amy Amy Amy/Amy Winehouse 7.) 6th Ave Heartache/Wallflowers 8.) Breathe/Newsboys 9.) Good Morning George/Veggie Tales 10.) Hollywood/Collective Soul.
You're concerned about two Bee Gee tunes, I'm concerned abou tthe fact that I have to Veggie Tales songs, which proportionally is very small compared to my Beatles collection.
I haven't listened to the Amy Winehouse one, yet. I find it troubling to listen to her music, despite I like blues.
I'm glad Eisley made an appearance. I love that bad.
Faith Hill's was a surprise in the number one slot. I just added her recently. I had her CD for the longest time.
I'm perturbed I couldn't add the 18 CD's I recieved from BMG today (18 -free- CD's, mind you) which include everything from Neil Diamond to Phil Collins to, yes, my joy, Huey Lewis and the News.
It's Hip to be Square, you know.
And remember Mr. Crowder, no cheating. Even if you have all Ted Nugent. Or ABBA. Devo, even.
D,
D.A.N.C.E is an epic song. You would agree? Have you heard the Diplo remix? It's also quite large.
lastly, you are an enigma wrapped inside a riddle and you make no apologies for it. Keep hitting us with more.
