1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. 4For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. 6This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

jesus is a friend of mine
so, i’m certain you’ve seen the video of the band sonseed by now, but if you haven’t, you need to go to youtube and type in ‘jesus is my friend’ and have your life changed.
last sunday ben, my friend that i reference here on occasion, showed the video during the announcements at our church, ubc. the set up was too tempting, so, instead of listening to the sermon (yes, i know), we (the band) gathered in ben’s office around his computer learning this life changing song. we thought it a fitting benediction. church music is cool. here is the resulting youtube:

question about the fall
i realize that the autumn equinox is, oh, 20 days away, but with gustav* on land, i’m in a suitable state for it at the present time. now, this is where i would typically begin eloquent text, pertaining to the third season of the northern hemisphere, marked by rational composition and a coherent arrangement of thoughts provoking images of harvest, crops and fruits being gathered, leaves falling, air turning fresh and enlivening with a suggestion of cold relative to the temperature of the human body, but that would be clichéd. instead – insert your answer to the following question in the comments, and i’ll let you know if you get it right:
what do you like most about the fall?
A. seasonal change
B. new/returning tv shows
C. football
D. new clothing options*carribean folk wisdom regarding hurricane season: june –– too soon. july – stand by. august – look out you must. september – remember. october – all over.

if you feel like i do, that this is a worthy organization that could do a lot of good, then go here membersproject and register as a guest. i did it myself. it required an email that did not necessitate it being accurate as i was not sent a password or anything to sign in with. after nominating them be sure and click the link to post it to your myspace/facebook. this is an enormous opportunity for exposure for some folks that are doing a noble thing and attempting to make a dent in things.

remedy club tour on itunes w/favorite comment
if you’re not into the dvd thing, you can download the new live recording here, just click the little “itunes” button:
edit: my favorite comment:
“Hey david,
I am an old guy – like your fathers age type old. My wife and I went on a little holiday several weeks ago to the No Cal area (Fort Bragg). Being from Oregon we were suffering from coastal depravation and need to see, smell and taste the ocean (we live in Arizona gladly cause of our three grandkids). Anyway our son (who irritates the bejeebers outa me cause he plays guitar real good and I introduced him to it) gave us a CD full of your stuff (legally downloaded). There is nothing like driving the Cali coast listening the David Crowder Band. My wife and I both were stemming on Surely We Can Change for the most part – we both think we got saved again (which is difficult for a couple of Presbyterians). Thanks for the great music.” by bikeboybill

bwack is a genius. i think. w/favorite comment
i have a definitive announcement: beloved bwack (our drummer) has exceeded, nay, crushed all of his previous electronic creations.
now, if you’re unfamiliar with bwack’s (our drummer’s) electronic wizardry, here are a few examples of his early work, when his tinkering in the bending of circuits was infantile and callow in comparison to his latest chef-d’oeuvre:
bwack’s stuff:
and of course jack’s magical box, as you may have had the good fortune to see and hear on the remedy tour or one of the festivals this summer during the technically demanding song “can you feel it”–
that’s not to mention his infamous modification of the guitar hero controller for the song, “neverending…,” or any of the other various mad items that are responsible for numerous sounds on numerous recordings by our little outfit–
but now, oh my. what follows is truly spectacular.
he was commissioned by our good friends from the band family force 5 to construct the largest sampler in the history of live rock music. and, with the assistance of his carpentry proficient padre, don bwack, he has done it. there were a few necessary requirements: one, it needed to withstand much energetic punching, and kicking, and general jovial abuse from one of the rowdiest live bands on the planet. there was also the need for it to dominate space with an aesthetic presence large enough to compete with one of the more style conscious outfits on the planet; the family has panache in spades and this thing had to be classy to occupy a stage such thoughtfully coifed hair and magically coordinated garmentry.
here it is briefly, in action with ff5 on the warped tour:

santana shreds w/favorite comment
ok, i’m gonna post another one of these, this time with more suitable explanation.
so, the radiohead video posted previously, it was a joke, it wasn’t really radiohead, it was someone else, someone with skillz and wit, someone who has caused me to laugh and laugh. this video i am posting is of one santana. it is also a joke. a very very funny joke. my favorite part is when the organ player “plays” the final countdown! genius…favorite comment: “So where are the other 4 Katinas?” from Jbud. i trust you are well, mr bud. don’t know if you caught the obligatory pilotdrift in the photo music, but, yeah, couldn’t resist, so thanks. check’s in the mail.
