February 24, 2006

  • so we had three days off in chicago. i really like that city.

    things i did there:

    watched the olympics
drank tea from a tea shop
bought ghirardelli chocolate squares (milk chocolate with caramel filling)
    bought two books
    became frozen
rode in a taxi to the wrong place
got lectured by a taxi driver concerning my knowledge of destination before embarkation
ate the ghirardelli chocolate squares (milk chocolate with caramel filling)
won the division play-off game on psp madden football
ate the exact same meal 6 times (a filet with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables from a restaurant called THE GRILL.)
wondered aloud if it was ordinary to eat the same meal 6 times in 3 days

we played music last night at ball state. afterwards we went bowling with the third day guys. a highly competitive game erupted between crowder band and the day of three. we lost. however, make no mistake, we will not lose again. we were simply weak mentally. so i burned the chariots of fire sound track and gave it to the guys. as i placed it delicately in their tender hands i said, “listen intently and never lose again.”

there is a dvd circulating here on the tour that you might find of interest. this is it:

“take a funny and often moving trip into the strange and humorous world of he song-poem industry. in this little known subculture, “ordinary” people send in their heartfelt, but often bizarre, poems to companies that – for a fee- turn them into full-fledged musical productions. advertising in the back of magazines these companies lure the would-be songwriters with promises of fortune and fame.”

    featuring not-so-famous songs like:
    non-violent taekwondo troopers
    i am a ginseng digger
    richard nixon
    jimmy carter says yes!
    annie oakley
    chicken insurrection

  • we had a praise night for my church today, we played “Wholly yours”
and at a time when i really am struggling with the concept of how such a love could exist, a divinity that covers and loves its antonym
thank you so much for that song

  • Ghiradelli: good stuff, I love the white chocolate, but I think I prefer Linde’s truffles…

I think the same meal for 6 days is perfectly acceptable if it’s delicious!

  • yummy chocolate

  • YAY You rock my brotha!! :) Thanks you so much for being who God made you to be! :) Take care praying for you!! :)

  • why does everyone pester mr. crowder with telling him you were the first or whatever to comment? how about saying, “hello david crowder. I am listening to your sunsets and sushi cd right now and I’m fully enjoying it. I’m a big fan and just wanted to tell you that I really appreciate the awesome ministry you have. God bless!!!” see, that’s cool… some other people say stuff like that… :)

  • im in a town i am not familiar with and still i love your music. i know this means nothing in my decision of what town i am in but it does

  • yeah Mac just looks like a good bowler. He probably carried their team. I’m sure you guys would have won if A.) you had already had the chariots of fire and b.)if you spiked Mac’s drink to throw off his game. He doesn’t really need to be fully coherent to play a concert.

  • wow, i’m inspired… chocolate sounds great right about now. just got home from Bible study and after getting full of God’s word i feel the need to be filled with some chocolate…

I’ve been loving learning the piano part to “Come and Listen”. I’ve got it all down except for this one part where I still have to work a little more, but it’ll come quickly to me. Piano always does. This piano part is so amazing by the way!!
    Looking forward to more updates!!
    Love in Christ, Sara

next time you’re here maybe you can try going to chinatown square and getting something called bubble tea at a restaurant called joy yee’s..or seomtihng like that. it’s really good and extremely popular. i think you would like it..just an idea..

    my favorites are..

you can basically mix any combo of fruits together. and there are these things called boba in them that you will learn to love!

okay..this comment is way too long. have a great day!

  • six times normal?  sure, most humans eat the same thing every meal, but it’s more like: one hard tortilla and a cup of water.  let’s call it good normal.

  • I have to agree about the chocolate. What books did you buy? and do you like the Sudoku puzzles? They are really hard sometimes.

Can you come to New Bern NC sometime?!? pleeeeaaaassse?

  • That sounds interesting. lol And eating the same meal 6 times in a row is not weird. If you like something, eat it lol. that is my philosophy, lol have a great day! ttfn ta ta for now!

  • ‘zupness (that classic Zoom greeting) Chinatown pretty much rocks, watch out for the perennial cigarette butt though, they’re everywhere. A little tip for you future tourists.

I’m living in this arctic zone they call February in Chicago, quite frankly it’s beyond mild weather. Soak it in. God bless and I’m going to get some chocolate now.

  • Bowling tip: If your ball is going a direction you don’t want, try leaning the other way. I did this just last weekend and ended up leaning so far I was hopping on one foot. But, my ball saw my little desperation dance and obeyed.

Maybe you should play Third Day in 5 pin bowling. Who knows, your crew could kick some butt.

  • i was totally invited to that concert the other night.
and i promise i wanted to go really badly, however it didn’t
work. but i will most definitely see you this summer at
dcla. good luck next time on bowling. don’t let it get you
down. you’ll get them next time.

i’ve discovered that in order to get comments i need to
be named david crowder. looks like you got to the name first.

  • how is it you are so cool.

if there was anyone in the world who could match to your coolness [besides Jesus, of course], i would personally stick my head in a toilet & give myself a swirly.

  • p.s. youve been my only subscription for almost 2 years now. [ive had other xangas.]
    ..so congrats?

& i love ghirardelli chocolate squares (milk chocolate with caramel filling).

  • Sounds like you have a lot of fun on tour.

  • awesome concert at Ball State, you guys never cease to amaze!

  • ghirardelli chocolate squares (milk chocolate with caramel filling) – one of my favorite…
right now i’m enjoying manoloa milk chocolate covered macademia nuts in honolulu!~

  • i once went to a ghirardelli shop in san fransisco with my step-brother and a friend. when we walked in they gave us a free chocolate square (milk chocolate with caramel filling). we looked around decided we’d come back later and get some stuff. when we came back they gave us another free chocolate square (milk chocolate with caramel filling). when we got a second one we all looked at each other. then made quick to exitting the shop and returning as quickly as possible. we actually got away with this several times. it was amazing.

those are by far the best kind of chocolate squares (milk chocolate with caramel filling).
